Support CA Science Funding

Since the beginning of 2025, UC-UAW members have been leading the way in the fight to protect the University against attacks on public higher education. UC-UAW members have made significant progress through mass rallies, lobby visits, lawsuits, and town halls with congresspeople that have led to the reinstatement of tens of millions of dollars in funding for the University. After unrelenting advocacy from thousands of UC-UAW members, state legislators eliminated the proposed 8% cut to UC and restored full funding at a time it is most needed.

Most recently, to insulate UC from federal budget cuts, our union has initiated an effort with CA state lawmakers to pass Senate Bill 607. This bill places a bond on the 2026 ballot to create and fund the California Foundation for Science and Health Research, which would establish a $23 billion state fund for scientific research. UC leadership is following the lead of UAW members to support this bill as well. Add your support to help pass this act and protect the important work we do at UC.
